Google has announced their plan to buy AdMob, the leader in mobile advertising provider.

AdMob has been known as main provider of some ads in some applications running on Google’s Android mobile operating system. Besides that, AdMob also provides ads for many programs on the iPhone platform, which are in turn used to collect general statistical information about iPhone users.

Google expects that by buying AdMob, it can focus more on mobile search ads as this number one search and advertising company has been competing with Yahoo and Microsoft in the mobile market. All three companies hopes that serving ads to mobile users can build a new source of revenue as there are more mobile-phone users in the world than computer users.

Through the acquisition of AdMod, it could be seen that Google is so serious about mobile and about display advertising.

Google is not the only company but its rivals including Microsoft, AOL and Yahoo have also acquired other mobile advertising companies.
