Sony newly released Alpha NEX interchangeable lens series

It could be seen as an outstanding step of Sony into the  interchangeable lens camera market which has till now been dominated by Micro Four Thirds models of Olympus and Panasonic when this giant electronic company unveiled its Alpha NEX series cameras. Besides that, it could be said that Sony Alpha NEX series are serious competitor to  Editor’s Choice Panasonic Lumix DMC-GF1 (at $899.95) and Olympus E-P2 (at $1,099.9) as they are sold at only $549.99 with better performance and  a 16mm f/2.8 kit lens.

In comparison with  D-SLRs,  NEX-3 seems a fine contender as it is a half cheaper than  D-SLRs while  offering amazing features such as image quality, speed and compact size. Together with  NEX-3,  NEX-5 in the series is a heavy weight member with later offering a bouquet of HD video-capture options along with a magnesium alloy body at just additional cost of $100.

However, these outstanding camera series of Sony still have some disadvantages such as:

  • While recording the video, shutter speed can not be manually controlled
  • Only a limited range of E-Mount lens selections are available
  • Incompatible with existing Alpha lenses
  • Incompatible with existing Alpha lenses
