ECS has proudly announced 15 microns Gold Contact, the new technology which is promised to provide longer lifespan, better reliability and excellent contact for motherboards. Intel P55 Express is the current chipset of Intel to utilize new ECS motherboard.
As we may all know, so as to prevent oxidized rust formation, the processor sockets and memory slots have metal pins flashed with 5 Microns Gold. The four new motherboards of ECS now have up to 15 Microns Gold Contact flashed on the metal pins over processor sockets and memory slots. According to ECS, its new motherboard with three times more gold will bring three times more protection.
Gold Contact is claimed to provide not only good protection but also increased reliability and lifespan of the motherboard. G41T-M2 Gold and P55H-A Ultra are the two Intel based ECS motherboards with 15 Microns Gold Contact. In details, the P55H-A supports 45nm Lynnfield processors from Intel with Socket LGA 1156, DDR3 memory, eSATA and offers S/PIDF out whereas the G41T-M2 motherboard is based on Intel G41 Express chipset and supports 45nm Intel Core 2 Duo chips, DDR2 memory modules and DVI out.
Talking about Intel’s serious rival, AMD releases A785GM-M Ultra and A790GXM-AD3 Gold, the two motherboards with 15 Microns Gold Contact. One of surprising point is that A790GXM-AD3 Gold is not compatible with Windows 7. On the other hand, the ECS A785GM-M motherboard supports Socket AM3 Phenom II processors, DDR3 memory and has ATI Radeon HD 4200 integrated graphics. The A790GXM-AD3 motherboard also supports 45nm Phenom II processors, DDR3 memory, and just like A785GM-M, it is CrossFireX configuration ready.
AMD seems to pass over Intel when its motherboards feature HDMI but Intel’s ones do not.
