Have you ever wondered about the revenue each Apple staff makes for the company? Horace Dediu, a member of Now Asymco had conducted a detailed survey about Apple’s revenue via average revenue each Apple employee earned for the company. In 2010, it was reported that each employee would make $481,000 for the company. That is a great number, isn’t it? Through three quarter of 2011, that number is $320,000 per employee. Although the sale number can increase much at fourth quarter of the shopping season, it is difficult to achieve the revenue as in 2010. It is expected per Apple staff will bring $427,000 in revenue for this year.
By comparison, JC Penney pulls in about $124,000 in revenue each year per employee.
It means Apple has done something very well, very right. In terms of company area, Apple got $1.8 million per employee and profits of nearly $430,000 per employee for its fiscal 2011.
But what about compensation for said employees? Apple is not generous much with its employee for such big revenue they brought for the company. Although the average Apple store employee creates sales at the rate of about $278 per hour, they only got wages from $9 to $15 per hour for salespeople and can reach $30 per hour for Genius Bar staff.
At the current time, Apple owns its 300-plus retail outlets which are the envy of the industry. It is reported the company will generate nearly $4,500 in annual retail sales each square foot of retail space where its products are sold, consisting of online sales. That’s in contrast to the annual sales per square foot plus online sales of companies such as Tiffany ($3,070), Coach ($1,776), and Best Buy ($880).
