E-mail services have become more and more important in every internet users’ lives. As time flows by, Web-based e-mail services have been more improved, providing such similar features with e-mail programs on PC. It is not very surprising that Web-based services now provide the source features for desktop programs. Mozilla has just unveil latest version to Thunderbird which allows users to keep their inbox clutter-free with a Gmail-like “archive” button for permanently storing older messages, while removing them from day-to-day sight. A new feature in Thunderbird 3 is tabbed e-mail which is a popular feature in many web browsers. Thanks to this new feature, users can now quickly jump back and forth between e-mail messages by opening them in separate tabs. At this time, Thunderbird could be seen as direct rival to the desktop-based program, Microsoft Outlook. Thunderbird 3 is expected to provide advantages for many users, particularly those with multiple e-mail accounts over multiple services.
According to Mozilla, the latest version of Thunderbird is added with improvements for merging messages from those accounts into a single mailbox. Without this program, you can do hat for e-mail systems supporting the POP3 protocol; that’s been expanded to include IMAP, used by Time Warner Inc.’s AOL and many workplace systems. Thunderbird has also enhanced its search feature so that it is more like the web. Think of e-shopping sites that let you narrow your choices by clicking on a specific brand name or price range to the left. Using Thunderbird 3, you can do that with e-mail, narrowing the search results using such criteria as whether there’s an attachment and who the sender is.
